reduction in vision in one or both eyes due to abnormal visual experience in early childhood, leading to functional changes in the visual centres of the brain. These changes result from eye-related problems that degrade or distort images received by the brain. The most common causes are misalignment of the eyes (strabismus) and uncorrected (usually asymmetric) refractive errors (e.g., farsightedness, nearsightedness, or astigmatism). Other conditions that affect the clarity of vision, such as congenital cataracts, can also cause amblyopia. In each of these situations the brain receives inferior or inappropriate visual information, which it suppresses over time.
If left untreated, these changes within the visual centres of the brain will become permanent and lead to irreversible vision deficits. Fortunately, this outcome is usually avoidable or reversible during early childhood by promptly correcting the underlying eye problem (removing the cataract or prescribing eyeglasses) or forcing the use of the weaker eye, often by carefully covering the stronger eye with a patch. However, despite the availability of effective treatments, amblyopia remains a major cause of childhood-onset reduced vision. Vision screening is an essential means of identifying children at risk of developing amblyopia.

The information below should help answer your questions.
Can Impulsivity Be Treated?
Yes. Many treatments for BPD have components that target impulsivity. For example, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focuses on building skills that will help you to reduce your impulsive behaviors.
Mindfulness, which is a skill taught in DBT, can help you to stay more aware of your actions so that you can take time to consider consequences. Mindfulness can help you to make healthier decisions about how to respond to events around you.
Medications may also help with impulsivity, but are probably most effective when used in conjunction with psychotherapy.
If you are struggling with impulsivity, learn more about treatments for BPD that may help you get impulsive behavior under control.

What causes impulsivity?
Impulsivity often has to do with a lack—or total absence—of planning. In the brain, the pre-frontal cortex, known to be involved in planning and decision making, is thought to play a key role in impulse control. Damage to the pre-frontal cortex leads to impairment in our ability to suppress impulses. In such cases, areas of the brain involved in reward, pleasure seeking or rage will dominate safer judgment.

Texas Treasures – Full Text of Travis’ Letter from the Alamo – Texas State Library
The information below talks about Travis’s character.
Authors throughout the 20th and early 21st Century have
impugned Travis’ character and painted him a haughty,
unlikeable man. This negativity got an early start on the
pages of Amelia Williams’ Doctoral Dissertation at the
University of Texas in 1931, and was promoted to the
motion picture screen in John Wayne’s The Alamo (1960).
It was given new life in John Lee Hancock’s Alamo movie
in 2004.
The facts, however, conflict with this negative evaluation of
Travis. Travis came to Texas in 1831, and within the space of a year had managed to be thrown in jail for
inciting the colonists to thoughts of independence. Had he really been so reviled as the movies and the
dissertation portrayed him, it is unlikely that the loyal colonists of the Austin Colony would have stood up
for him as they did in 1832. It is also very unlikely that the volunteers would have stayed in the Alamo to
stand with him against an overwhelming army. Those facts are completely at odds with an arrogant,
condescending man… but completely consistent with a man who could write such elegant prose as he did
at the Alamo. Such a man would inspire men to do great things.

Below is a quote from Travis…
Travis is often remembered for the stirring and brave message he sent out while he was under siege at the Alamo:
COMMANDANCY OF THE ALAMO, BEXAR, February 24, 1836.
FELLOW-CITIZENS AND COMPATRIOTS : I am besieged by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna. I have sustained a continued bombardment for twenty-four hours, and have not lost a man. The enemy have demanded a surrender at discretion ; otherwise the garrison is to be put to the sword, if the place is taken. I have answered the summons with a cannon-shot, and our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender or retreat. Then I call on you in the name of liberty, of patriotism, and of everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid with all despatch. The enemy are receiving reinforcements daily, and will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. Though this call may be neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible, and die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor and that of his country. Victory or death!
“W. BARRET TRAVIS, Lieutenant-Colonel commanding.

Asthma Video: Asthma and Your Lungs
2nd question..Who discovered asthma?
Hippocrates, a Greek physician during 460 – 357 BC, discovered asthma. He is acknowledged as the “father of medicine” and was the first physician to describe asthma spasms. Galen, a Greco-Roman doctor of the period 201-130 BC, identified asthma symptoms and established that asthma was caused by bronchial obstructions (his treatment for the condition was owl’s wine).
It is interesting to note that both Hippocrates and Galen described asthma correctly prior to the birth of Christ while modern day physicians (who considered themselves superior and more advanced) believed right up to the 1980’s that asthma was purely a psychological condition.
The name asthma is derived from ancient Greek meaning gasping or panting. Ancient Chinese asthma treatment was ephedrine, notably used thousands of years prior to Western doctors adopting it as a method of treatment.
Science is continually exploring new methods to treat this debilitating illness and recently researchers found genes that can be linked directly to asthma – they think that the discovery of a number of gene markers will revolutionize treatment methods as it will be based on individual and specific genetic markers
